The Rundown: Following an emotional 14-7 victory against town rival IC West HS last Friday, The Little Hawks are defending Bates Field once more against the Linn Mar Lions.
Linn Mar defeated City High last year, 33-20 at Linn Mar. This year, Linn Mar’s season has been gripped by loss, with a 63-17 loss against Prairie HS last Friday. The Little Hawks, however, have come off a loss in their season opener against Cedar Falls to a near undefeated season.
Linn Mar’s quarterback, Ryan Schmidt has passed for 1,525 yards this season, but their top rusher, Ross Lembeck, with 533 yards rushing, can’t come close to City’s Xavier Washpun ‘14, MVC rushing leader – 1161 yards. On defense, City’s defensive leader in tackles, linebacker Ivan Diaz ‘14 has racked up 56 total tackles this season, whereas Linn-Mar’s Logan Benter has totalled 66 tackles this season.
