Shifting from elementary students to high school teenagers can often be a big change, but City High’s newest teaching addition to the visual arts team enthusiastically made the challenging transition.

“I really enjoy being able to talk with and hear the ideas of older students,” Dan Peterson, former teacher at Horn Elementary, Roosevelt Middle School, and Twain Elementary said.

Taking over the drawing and sculpture classes, Peterson has big ideas for collaborating with colleague Michael Close in order to bring new ideas and concepts into the art department.

“I believe that City High should be the school that leads in everything, especially visual arts,” Dan said. “Mr. Close and myself make a great team and the art department, students, and materials have a lot of potential. My hope is that we can put City high on the map.”
