Game five seems to be the magic number when it comes to the City vs West volleyball rivalry as this season’s battle of the spike looked to be no different.

The No.1 ranked Little Hawks played a back and forth game against their rivals from across town, a No.10 ranked West High Trojans.

After a close 26-24 first set win for the Little Hawks, West High went on to win the game after a 4-0 rally past the Little Hawks, 24-26, 25-15, 25-22, 20-25, and 15-12 in front of an ecstatic home crowd.

“We had some good opportunities throughout the night for us to win the game,” said head coach, Craig Pitcher, “we played a little bit more aggressive and we got them going after the win, but after that we played a little more passive and thats when they started applying some pressure”

The Little Hawks will travel to Dubuque next week to play their next away game against Hempstead.
