City High traveled back to West High to play another series of volleyball against the Trojans. However, this time it would not be for the Spike, but for an advancement in the MVC playoffs.

The Trojans brought the heat, going up early in the first set. Although, after a Little Hawk timeout, City High was able to bounce back and win the first set with 25-23.

On the other hand,  West took a strong second set, winning 25-15 keeping momentum throughout the entire set. From there, West went on to win the next two sets 25-21 and 25-20.

“What won us the first set was our confidence,” Ashley Smith ’16 said, “although after the first set I think we just lost track of basic things we needed to get done. No doubt about it we fought as hard as we could, but we just couldn’t get the outcome we wanted at the end of the day,”

Through the hard work, West took the game 3-1, ending the volleyball season for City High.

“Tonight, I was very pleased with how well we played,” said head coach, Craig Pitcher, “it was a couple of plays here and there that really made the difference in the game tonight, but I’m really proud of the team this season,”

This game also marked Smith’s last game as a Little Hawk.

“I didn’t really expect the season to be over tonight, but we fought until the very end and I can’t really complain about that,” said Smith, “it amazes me how fast the season went, but playing with the teammates I had, I wouldn’t trade my senior year for the world and I can’t thank my teammates enough for everything they’ve done for me,”
