The swim season is almost through. However, districts is this Saturday at Mercer at 12, and the City swimmers are ready to take it on. If City does well at districts this weekend, then state is around the corner.

Captain Cole Donahue ‘18 is very proud of the leadership that the upperclassmen demonstrated this year.

“We have a very young team this year but they have continuously stepped up and competed all season,” Donahue said. “We were also fortunate to have some more upperclassmen take leadership roles as well.”

The team aspires to place well in relays at districts to carry the team as well as some individuals to state.

“I hope to have our 200 medley relay and our 400 free relay be in the top eight and qualify for state. I also hope that we have multiple people qualify for state individually,” Donahue said.

Upperclassman Max Friton ‘18 agrees with Donahue in that a lot of improvements were made and that this year was a good building block for a bigger and better team that can compete at higher levels next year.

“We have helped a lot of new swimmers who had very little experience to gain a lot of knowledge about swimming,” Friton said.
