Every fall, City High puts on a homecoming parade featuring various clubs and sports. City kicked off the parade by showcasing the 14 members of this year’s homecoming court. The court was followed by the marching band, who proudly played the anthem “Sturdy Little Hawk.” The football, cross country, and swimming teams were represented, as well as the drama department, who promoted their fall play, To Kill A Mockingbird, and their spring musical, Guys and Dolls.

“Usually during the parade we focus on the musical, but I hope we focus on To Kill A Mockingbird, because it’s a story people know and love,” Lizzie Carrell ‘18 said.

City High offers a wide variety of clubs, many of which participated in the parade. Best Buddies in particular always has a large turnout, with around 60 participants.

“I think that showing that everybody is even just capable of walking in a parade and throwing candy just like every other kid, I think that’s important,” Alex Pradarelli ‘18 said.

Other floats included Raw Bacon Robotics, the Science and Social Studies departments, The Little Hawk newspaper and City High alumni. In addition to floats, the Dream Divas also participated, stopping occasionally to perform a short dance routine.
