Canned Food Drive Ends with Success

After many months of planning, the food drive concludes with success.

The food drive was held at two different Hy-vee locations just after Thanksgiving: North Dodge and First Avenue. Canned food and diapers were collected and donated to the Johnson County Crisis Center.

Organized by Student Senate, the group collected approximately one-thousand pounds of food and diapers.

“People were very generous in terms of what they were donating and how much money they were giving,” Student Senate President Lucia Wagner ’17 said.

The food drive is organized by Student Senate every year around Thanksgiving, but Interact club will host other drives throughout the year depending on what the Crisis Center needs.

Student Senate hopes to expand the locations of the drive next year to get even more donations for the Crisis Center.

“The drive went pretty smoothly,” Wagner said.
