Iowa vs Wisconsin Preview

We discuss a big game in college football on Saturday.

Iowa vs Wisconsin Preview

Jonathan House, Reporter

Iowa faces Wisconsin on Saturday at 2:30 at Kinnick Stadium in Iowa City. Iowa comes in to the game at 7-3 and 4-2 in the Big 10. They beat Illinois in Champaign last week 30-14. Wisconsin is coming off a game in which they demolished Nebraska 59-24 at Camp Randall in Madison. Melvin Gordon set a new single game rushing record, when the Badger RB rushed for 408 yards. This game will have a significant impact on the Big 10 West, as Wisconsin will have beaten Nebraska and Iowa, both of which still have a chance to win the division.

My keys to victory: Wisconsin has a really good rushing game. Melvin Gordon has over 1900 rushing yards in only ten games. He leads the country in rushing yards, and rushing yards a game. In addition to Gordon, Wisconsin has some other dangerous runners, including Corey Clement, and quarterback Tanner McEvoy. They are second in the country in rushing yards a game, behind only Navy, with 351 yards/game. Luckily, their passing game is well below average. They are 117th in passing yards a game. Iowa also has struggled in their rushing defense at times. Indiana RB Tevin Coleman rushed for over 200 yards against the Hawkeyes. If the Hawkeyes can grab an early lead, and force Wisconsin to pass, they could make mistakes. If Melvin Gordon is able to get going on the ground, and Wisconsin grabs an early lead, it could be a very long day for the Hawkeyes, and a very happy one in Madison.

My prediction: Wisconsin 31,  Iowa 21
