Two state champions and four new school records were accomplished this past weekend. The boys swim team placed 6th at the State meet, against 33 other schools.
“This was the highest place City has ever achieved at state,” Coach Burkle said. “I am very proud of the boys.”
Cam Herting won the 500 meter freestyle with a time of 4:36.03, and Colin McAllister won the 200 meter freestyle with a time of 1:42.57. James Davis placed 5th in the 200 individual medley, and Sid McMillin placed 5th in the 100 meter freestyle, which broke the school record.
“It feels awesome to be a state champ.” McAllister said.
Cam Herting, the three time state champion in the 500 meter freestyle dropped six seconds off his district time.
“Cam and I have been training for awhile,” McAllister said. “It was cool that both of us won an event.”
This was the last high school meet for the senior swimmers.
“It’s sad that the season is over,” McAllister said. “But I have to move on, we ended really well and I’m proud of what we did.”
