The Student Senate is a buzz with prom planning, elections, and gender-neutral restrooms, but now, another annual duty is approaching: the grants for clubs they give out every year.

“Student Senate gives out hundreds of dollars [every year],” said Lucy McGehee ‘17, the Senate Vice President, saying that the amount is dependent “on how worthy the cause is.”

The ranking of the clubs is judged by the Student Senate, after they fill out the mandatory form that explains what the club will be doing with the money and how much they are asking for, according to McGehee.

“Clubs need to go to the main office…or they can come talk to me or [Student Senate President] Lucy Wagner on Wednesday morning,” McGehee said.

Clubs who sign up and advertise their purpose have an opportunity for up to five hundred dollars in funding.

“Student Senate offers a good opportunity for aspiring clubs,” McGehee said.
