The 9/10th grade team has struggled heavily this season and are ranked fourth in the MVC at 4-3 with two disappointing losses to Prairie and Washington, and another from west. In both of the first games The Little Hawks dominated the ball and created many scoring chances. But the young team has been plagued by misses. A lack of production in front of goal has netted the Little Hawks only one goal in three games.

“Yeah we just can’t finish” said captain Dylan Proeller ‘19. “We have been terrible in front of goal in these last few games.” In both the Washington and Prairie games City had considerably more chances, in the game against Washington the ball was in City’s defensive  half only five or six times. The Little Hawks had an array of shots from inside the box yet could not finish any. The team worked hard in practice the following week and rebounded with a 4-1 win over the previously undefeated Waterloo West.

“Yeah, it felt great to put away two goals,” freshman Riguen Negenda ‘20 said. The team needed a win heading into a tough game Friday against the 3rd ranked Linn-Mar Lions.

“I think if we play like we played Tuesday we will win, simple as that. When we are finishing like we did we can beat anyone.” Captain Dylan Proeller ‘19 predicts for Friday’s game. The young team has a lot a room to grow and have the potential for a great season.
