With the organizational help of Dr. Ayers, two representatives of the Higher Education Mentorship Workshop, Natalie Brown and Taimyr Strachan, held an informational session during advisory yesterday. They spoke to students about their one-day event this summer connecting high school students from underrepresented minority and first generation college backgrounds with successful college sophomores and juniors with similar backgrounds.

The objective of the program is to help students of color or first generation backgrounds to navigate their paths to college. Natalie and Taimyr talked with students about funding options for college, community college, summer plans leading up to college, and about some of the choices they wish they had gotten advise about.

The workshop will be held in the Old Capitol Mall Room 1117 near Tspoons on June 17th from 9am to 1pm. For more information or to sign up, see Dr. Ayers in room 2111 or email Natalie at [email protected].
