The Student Senate meeting on Wednesday, September 26 began with faculty adviser Steve Tygrett reminding the Senate of the events to take place throughout the week.
“We have three big things today,” Tygrett said. “In second and third hours we have the Homecoming assemblies. Juniors will go down second hour and seniors will go third hour.”
After the school day, the Senate has more events in store.
“Also today is the parade,” Tygrett said. “Anybody that can come help after school, we’ll need help making…spaces where the parade floats will line up. And then the other big thing we have, after the parade, at 7:30, is the Powderpuff game on Bates Field.”
The Homecoming dance on Saturday also will require hours of preparation by the Senate, and Tygrett painted this task as thankless.
“You’re the ones doing all this work, and you’ll never get any acknowledgment [for] it from your fellow students,” Tygrett said. “But there is satisfaction in having things pull off flawlessly.”
The Senate broke into committees.
The Student Senate meets every Wednesday from 8:15-8:45 in room 3311. To learn more, please attend meetings, which are open to all students, or contact Steve Tygrett, the primary faculty adviser.
