The student senate meeting on Wednesday, November 7 began with a presentation from the senate treasurer, Rachael Volkman ’19.
“We should establish a budget for [club grants],” Volkman said, adding, “but we should make sure to maintain $4000 for next year.”
The senate launched into a discussion of funding for club grants and how to advertise the grants. It’s one of the main responsibilities of the senate to give clubs funding, but it is up to the discretion of the senate as to how much funding it chooses to give each group.
“One of the privileges of being a student senator is that this is your decision,” faculty adviser Steve Tygrett said. “You can choose whether this is a worthy cause.”
Volkman reported on the progress of the Can Drive. “Two locations, four days,” Volkman said. “December 17-18, December 1-2.”
The senate broke into committees.
The student senate meets every Wednesday at 8:15. To learn more, attend meetings, which are open to all students, or contact Steve Tygrett, the primary faculty adviser.
