It is with great sadness we announce that the two large evergreen trees outside of City High School’s gym were reduced to mere stumps a few weekends past. While the age of the trees is unknown, they fell over Thanksgiving Break, without even giving students a chance to say goodbye. According to unnamed teachers’ reports, they were either diseased or obstructing the way of the construction in the old gym. The evergreens are survived by the many other tall, healthy trees decorating the front lawn of City’s campus. No official memorial will be held in their honor, but mourners are welcome to stop by the stumps to say a few words or leave flowers for the deceased. Their lives will be celebrated where the previously shady ground they stood on may be illuminated in new sunlight come spring.
