Last night the City High girls soccer team earned their first victory by a score of 10-1 against Waterloo West. The win improved the team’s morale and put their season record at 1-10.
“I think the win did quite a bit,” Assistant Coach Edgar Arceo said, “you can tell a difference in the way people were talking and acting towards each other. Hopefully it’s a good sign.”
The leading scorer for the Little Hawks was Corbin Sholtz ‘13 with four goals. Lia Phanthavong ‘13 added two points. Maddie Schroder ‘13, Laura Koch ‘12, Abby Schroder ‘12, and Molly Powell-Littler ‘13 all scored one.
“Even though we won 10-1, we still have a lot to work on,” Arceo said. “It was hard to work on something that I would like to see done but we can still improve.”
The Little Hawks play Waterloo East at Shrader Field tomorrow. They hope to keep possession, finish well and add another win the their record.
“Our record is deceiving,” Arceo said. “I think we have played well; well enough to win. So our record doesn’t indicate the way that we have been playing because we’ve been performing pretty well against this top-notch competition.
