The Little Hawk Football team will be heading up to the UNI Dome for their opening game of the year hoping to avenge their second round playoff loss to the Cedar Falls Tigers.

“We have had one of the best pre-season camps that I’ve seen since I’ve been coaching here. The players were focused on the goal and ready to get after it,” Dan Sabers, head coach, said.
The Cedar Falls team is a stout first test for our Little Hawks, with three returning offensive linemen, including a big-time recruit in Ross Pierschbacher, who has been recruited by top tier schools such as Alabama and Oregon. The Tigers quarterback is also an elite player and is committed to Iowa. Nevertheless, Coach Sabers still believes he has the best player in the state with Amos Lavela ‘13. City High also has three returning offensive lineman and many weapons on both offense and defense.

“Even though we aren’t ranked high, we have a lot of players that are really good and will play well for us on offense and defense,” Mitch Hynes ‘13 said.

City High was ranked number eight by the Des Moines Register and was not ranked in the top ten in other local polls.

“We are using us not being rated high as motivation to prove the doubters wrong and surprise a lot of people.”commented Hynes.

The game is Friday night in the UNI Dome in Cedar Falls, bring your friends and your beachwear and come cheer on the Little Hawks!
