On December 8th and 9th the Combined Efforts theater group will be performing “ISO Orbiting from Galaxy TEJ55” at 7 p.m. in the Little Theater. Tickets are five dollars for this post apocalyptic story set in the next hundred years. The play follows the story of three kids struggling to survive in this harsh world where no one lives over the age of twenty.
“I have loved all the fun sets and costumes,” Jacob Walterhouse said.
Walterhouse plays a futuristic robot with a bad attitude.
Combined Efforts is a theater group that gives special education students the chance to perform. The group is led by Janet Schlapkohl, an adjunct instructor at the University of Iowa. Combined efforts puts on a show every winter in the little theater, and a show every summer at the Schlapkohl farm.
“I think it’s important to give the special ed kids opportunities to shine on stage in ways that they wouldn’t otherwise,” Maya Bergman-Corbet, a comedic hologram in the show, said.
