History was made recently when TBS announced they were going to be streaming competitive Counter-Strike last week.
Starting next year the famous FPS, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive will have it’s own season dedicated to live matches. This can’t really be considered a step up for the eSports scene because expectations for viewers are very low. Players won’t go out of the way to watch the matches on TV when instead they could easily view the stream on Twitch.tv or even live inside the game.
Turner Broadcasting System (TBS) would have had to consider the audience they’re broadcasting to. Parents might not like their kids going through TV channels and finding a channel broadcasting fights between “Counter-Terrorists” and “Terrorists”.
