Teacher Appreciation: Tyler Hagy, an Inspiration to All

Mr. Tyler Hagy is the director of choral activities at City. He is someone who has played a big role in influencing my first three years at City. I remember being very nervous walking into my first ever show choir rehearsal, but immediately, Mr. Hagy made me feel welcomed and accepted as who I was into the choral community.

I remember one time, freshman year, at a show choir competition when an upperclassman had brought his Xbox, and we hooked it up to the projector. When Mr. Hagy found out, he came into the room; I thought he was going to scold us all and tell us to put it away, but what happened instead proved me wrong. Mr. Hagy joined into the mini Halo 3 tournament we were having, I remember him winning round after round, absolutely destroying everyone else on the field.

His light humor, positive attitude, and sympathetic tone made going to class and long show choir rehearsals all the more enjoyable. Moreover, he has to be the only teacher who truly knows exactly what’s going on in his classes and with each of his students. His applied knowledge and dedication to the City high choral program have only excelled the program as a whole, and I couldn’t appreciate the positive impact of a teacher more.
