Edible Endeavors: The Vine
One girl, lots of restaurants, on a quest to taste the world. One bite at a time, I, Elise Goodvin, will eat my way through the restaurants of Iowa City, and will bring you with me along the way.

Welcome to Elise’s Edible Endeavors! This is a blog about my trip around Iowa city trying to find some of the best places to eat, and also the worst. My first stop was the fantastic Vine Tavern and Eatery in Coralville, Iowa. Since it’s my go to spot when I’m in the neighborhood, I thought it would make a wonderful first place to go. This week I went with Micah Cabbage as my Darling Dinner Date.
Everything was great from the moment we walked in the door. We were greeted with a nice warm smile and asked our preference for seating. After sitting down, our server promptly came up with a great positive attitude and asked us what we would like to drink, and returned with our drinks just as fast. We started out with a half order of their cheesy fries with extra bacon.
As you can see, it’s a cheesy plate of yummy goodness. The Vine also makes its own ranch, which is just the right consistency. Although the wait was slightly longer for the fries than expected, around 25 minutes, they came out still hot and the cheese still gooey. We must have just gotten there right when a big rush came in because it usually doesn’t take that long. Then in perfect timing, another 10 minutes, our food came out. I got the dozen hot traditional wings.
Micah got the Plain Jo burger. The burger was a fairly large size, with the dressing’s on the size so it gave you more options of what you wanted to put on it.
My wings were decent, they were a little scrawnier than I’m used to, and they didn’t have as much sauce as I’m used to either, but they were still really good! Micah said her burger was really good, and that the amount of fries given were perfect.Dinner overall was pretty cheap, The Vine is usually fairly good with their portion sizes compared to the price that they are charging, our meal in total was only around 25 dollars.
The overall was what I was hoping it would be, The Vine is a great place for you and your friends to go and eat before a fun Friday night, or a place to go out to eat with your Honey Boo Bear before a movie. The Vine is a very family friendly place and cheap enough to bring a family, or bring some kids that you’re baby sitting. 10/10 would recommend.
