Washington Relays Season’s First Outdoor Meet, First Victory
The first meet title under head coach Mike Moore came this Tuesday as the Little Hawks took a W at their first outdoor meet.
March 25, 2016
Forecasted snowy weather conditions bumped the Washington Relays from Thursday the 24th to Tuesday the 22nd, causing a quick turnaround for the team as it came off of spring break.
Tuesday’s mild weather may have balanced out the scheduling change, however, as the early season outdoor meet went off without a hitch, netting City its first victory of the season.
The Little Hawks beat out Prairie by just one point to win the Class A trophy, drawing on multiple first place races, including the final event, a 4×400 that the Little Hawks won by 20 m.
Some of the highlights:
Shamari Scott ’16 took first in the 400 with a PR of 52.36.
Sy Butler ’16 took first in the 400 lows with a time of 58.06, a season best.
The shuttle hurdle relay also began with Butler, to Jason Jones ’16, then to Paci Keita ’16, and ended with Zach Jones ’18 and took 1st with a time of 59.83. All splits were season bests.
