Teacher Appreciation: Mr. Walker Never Gives Up and Brings the Doughnuts

For teacher appreciation week, I wanted to write about one of my favorite teachers, Matthew Walker. One of my favorite memories with Mr.Walker is when he would bring us all doughnuts to celebrate after our performances, even if we messed up or didn’t do that great he was always so proud of us. Mr.Walker’s attitude throughout the year has made me want to do better, it’s always so nice to come into a room full of positive people. Mr.Walker always does so much to make us happy and have fun while in his class, we always know that we can laugh and joke with him. After a long tiring weekend, we are able to share our weekend with the whole class in 5 words or less, it’s always fun to hear about everyone’s weekend and joke around before class starts. Not always do you find that special teacher who does everything in their power to keep their students safe and happy, but I have tons of amazing teachers at City High. I am so grateful for the amount of support I get from everyone here at City.

Mr.Walker has always been the type of teacher to never give up on his students, he is always there when we need him. There was never a point where Mr.Walker didn’t have a smile on his face, it’s almost like his smile is glued to his face. I never thought one person could change my whole day in one second but Mr.Walker can, I could be having the worst day and Mr.Walker could cheer me up in just a second. On top of being the most supportive teacher, Mr.Walker is so great at teaching and great at understanding students’ point of view. Mr.Walker is always so patient when we don’t quite understand the material he is teaching, he’s always ready to explain it to us in a better way so we understand what he is teaching. He is never afraid to try again, he is always encouraging us to keep trying and believe in ourselves. At the end of the day, I’m so grateful for all of the amazing teachers I have in my life, and I can’t wait to form more amazing memories with all of them.
