After winning against Prairie last Tuesday to qualify for state, City volleyball players and fans headed to Cedar Rapids this morning for the tournament. City played Ankeny Centennial in the first round and won the first set (26-24) with a good volley that brought them up from a seven-point deficit to win. They lost the next three sets (13-25), (10-25), and (11-25), making the game score (1-3). City fans appeared in full force to support their team, taking up two entire sections at the U.S. Cellular Center. Although City did not advance to the second round, fan Omnia Ali ’15 is still proud of the team.

“It wasn’t a bad ending at all,” she said. “It was a good end to a great season.”

The City student section supported the team through the end of the game with a chant of “we still love you” as the City volleyball players left the court.
