Little Hawk Staffers Win International Awards

The Iowa City-based Quill and Scroll International Honorary Society for High School Journalists yesterday announced that seven Little Hawk staffers had won a total of six Golden Key Awards for excellence in journalism. This year, 216 winners were chosen from more than 2,000 submissions in categories that included photography, writing, art, and design.

Caroline Brown ‘16 and Payton Evans ‘15 won in the In-Depth Reporting category for their feature story Profiled.

Will Barker ‘15 and Cody Owen ‘16 won in the Staff Editorial category for their piece Too Close for Comfort. Lilly Reitz ‘14 won in the same category for A State of Tolerance.

Cora Bern-Klug ‘15 won Golden Keys in both Sports Photography and News Photography.

Madeline Deninger ‘17 won in the Photo Slide Show Category for her work on Run for the Schools.
