City High has ranked 5th place out of 6 in Iowa on The Washington Post’s America’s Most Challenging High Schools list. The Post’s list for Iowa is as follows:

1.Cedar Rapids Washington

2. Cedar Rapids Kennedy

3. Ames High School

4. Decorah High School

5. City High School

6. Des Moines Roosevelt

The Washington Post ranked the high schools based off of number of AP classes offered and passed by students, and by the number of students that have graduated the previous year. The number of students on free and reduced lunch was also taken into account. City High moved up one place from sixth most challenging from last year.
