Bold Predictions

I’m back after a semi-long break and with what should be an easy week for the Hawkeyes against a 2-8 Purdue team, I’ve decided to make my week 12 bold(ish) predictions(for both college basketball and the end of the college football season), and my predictions for the rest of the season for teams all around the country.

Boston College knocks Notre Dame out of the top four, but still loses.

Despite losing a game earlier in the season to Wake Forest 3-0 and just being plain awful on offense the Eagles could play Notre Dame close if the Irish sleep on them, but if not this game could get ugly very quickly.

If Iowa wins out and wins the B1G Championship, it will win at least 1 CFP game.

This may be a little biased of a prediction but it absolutely is possible. If the Hawkeyes just get into the playoff and have the number four spot they will beat Clemson, who should be number one, thanks to tremendous defense by the Hawkeyes, specifically Desmond King, who will shut down the dynamic Deshaun Watson and make a difference in the semifinal game.

Iowa State will go to, and win, a bowl game.

That’s right, the Cyclones will make a bowl game if they win their last two games of the season and go 5-7 and eventually make it to 6-7, but if the Cyclones lose this weekend in a tough battle with Kansas State you might see Paul Rhodes on the hotseat this offseason.

Syracuse will not make the NCAA Tournament and Kansas won’t win the Big 12.

With the suspension of Jim Boeheim for nine ACC games, it’s not a particularly bold prediction that Syracuse wouldn’t make the NCAA tournament but it would definitely throw off the tradition of picking the Orange to lose in the sweet 16, if they do make it, though, expect them to be a very low seed from what they normally are. Kansas not winning the Big 12 for the 12th straight year would be a lot more surprising. The most likely team to steal the title from the Jayhawks is Iowa State, but with Shaka Smart at Texas and Oklahoma coming off the good season they had a year ago, those teams have just as good a chance to win the Big 12.

Iowa will beat Iowa State by double digits at Hilton Coliseum and make it to the Elite Eight

All I can say about this one is experience and patience. The Hawks haven’t beaten the Cyclones since 2012(Anthony Clemons, Mike Gesell, and Adam Woodbury were all Freshman) so you can be sure that those Seniors want to upset Iowa State and hopefully propel themselves throughout the season. My reasoning for the Elite Eight prediction is entirely based off of the 2012-13 Wichita State team, yep the one that made the Final Four, because of the experience that the Shockers had that year. Four of the five starters for the Hawks are Seniors and all five are Upperclassmen, so why not them to lead the Hawkeyes to the Elite Eight

That concludes my predictions for this week(hopefully I’m right) so I wish all of you readers a wonderful and snowy weekend and go Hawks!
