Outline: ICCSD’s Inclement Weather Policies

While the temperature drops, student’s hope of possible school delays or cancellation goes up. As another Iowa winter encloses upon us, here is the outline of ICCSD’s inclement weather procedures:

Cancellations:

-If after 10 a.m. the forecast indicates the possibility of frostbite after 30 minutes or less, the decision of cancellation will be made before 8 p.m. the night before.

-An excessive amount of snow or ice that prevents buses, students, and employees from reaching school safely will cause a cancellation as well. The district will call the cancellation before 5:30 a.m. the morning of the cancellation.

Delays:

-If the forecast for 6 a.m. the morning of the possible delay indicates the possibility of frostbite after 30 minutes or less, the district will call a delay prior to 8 p.m. the night before. If the conditions are worsening, they will call a delay no later than 6 a.m. This applies to excessive snow and ice.

Early Dismissal:

-If weather should worsen throughout the day, the district will call an early dismissal before 10 a.m. that day. The time dismissed will be determined by severity.
