City High school’s Black History game show team, winners of the past two years are set to defend their title.

“We won 1st, 200 to 70,”  Amadou Sanogo 18’ said.

Schools from all over the state along with Cedar Rapids schools, and West High will compete at the Des Moines Event Center, January 29th.

City High’s participants practice at home and have meetings after school during the week,

“We study, make flash cards, highlight things in our packets, and generally just know our chapters,” Sanogo said.

There are no requirements to be in this group so anyone is welcome to participate.

“I chose to participate because my cousins did it and they said it was fun,” Sanogo.

Students wanting to get involved next year, show up to the meetings and practices.

“We would love to have more students involved,” Sanogo said.
