Both the boys and girls varsity won their respective races at the Bud Williams Invitation at Kickers soccer complex in Iowa City, the annual City High cross country meet named after the legendary former Little Hawks coach. Matt Dodge ’17 led the boys with a time of 16:39 while Anna Lindower ’19 led the girls with a time of 19:26.

“We had a plan, and we executed it very well. We wanted to keep a pack through the first mile, and we kept that pack through one and a half miles. I’m so proud of everyone for sticking together and believing in each other,” Emily Bywater ’17, who finished second for City High and third overall, said.

With less than two weeks until the divisional meet, Bywater hopes to build upon last night’s meet.

“I really hope we can West next week [at Super Meet] and build on what we learned about being a pack yesterday so that we have a chance a chance at winning,” Bywater said.
