City High’s Joe Hoff ’17 remained undefeated on Tuesday after defeating West High’s Jiung Jung ’17, 5-7, 6-4, 10-8. Jung was the top ranked player in the state, playing number one for the top-ranked Trojans. Jung had previously beaten Hoff in last year’s state championship match.

“I was very happy for Joe. He’s worked very hard for it, it was a very close match, and I bet there wasn’t a three point difference in the match. He just won a couple really bring points,”  City High head coach Chip Hardesty said.

Despite Joe’s upset win, the Little Hawks lost the match, 7-2.

In addition to Hoff’s win, the third-ranked doubles team of Sameer Ali ’17 and Sam Bloom ’18 won City’s only other match.
