The National Scholastic Press Association has released this year’s volume of the Best of the High School Press, which chronicles the best of high school journalism and the recipients of the NSPA’s prestigious awards.

The Little Hawk received the 2016 Pacemaker Award and the 2016 Online pacemaker. Sarah Smith ’17 and Caroline Brown ’16 also took home 6th place for Broadcast Feature, while Madeline Deninger ’17 and Celeste Chadwick ’17 took home 9th place for Feature Story. The paper also received awards for two page/spread designs and took home 3rd place Best in Show for a newspaper tabloid over 17 pages at the journalism convention in Indianapolis.

“It is great to see the Little Hawk publication and website amongst the best in the country,” Jonathan Rogers, faculty advisor to the Little Hawk, said. “Winning both Pacemakers, online and in print, is an honor and to throw several stories and designs of the year on top is very impressive.”
