Boys Swimming Excels at Dual Meet with CR Washington

Eric Thomas and Forrest Frazier

The City v.s. Washington duel started with a bang: the City High Boy’s Varsity won the 200 yd medley relay of Forrest Frazier ‘20, Eric Thomas ‘18, Sam Naylor ‘18, and Mickale Sadecky ‘18. Following that, Sadecky surged to the win in both the 100 and 50 freestyle, maintaining his undefeated record of the sprint freestyles.

Some more highlights include Frazier and Thomas’ back to back destruction in the 100 back and 100 breaststroke, both winning by a stunning five seconds. Fraziers’ time of 53.47 seconds in the 100 backstroke, is now the official leading time for that race in the state.

However, in the end, the City High team, half the size of Washington’s, fell five points short of a win with a final score of 83-87. Head Coach Zane Hugo is one of the many astonished by the results.

“This has got to be the closest we’ve got to Washington in a while,” Hugo said.

Like Hugo, many of his swimmers are optimistic about the season ahead.

“We came in the meet expecting to take a big ‘L’,” Rob Strang ‘18 said. “But ended up just barely falling short. I’m curious to see where the season goes.”
