For the Little Hawk wrestling team, the wait is finally over. City High kicked off its 2017-18 wrestling season with important wins over Cedar Falls and perennial MVC power Cedar Rapids Prairie.

The night started off with a duel against Prairie, an early season matchup with far reaching implications for the MVC standings. City came away with a 37-29 win.

The victory is crucial for the Little Hawks, who finished behind Prairie last year in the regular season and second in the MVC tournament, behind only the Prairie Hawks.

The Little Hawks closed out the night with another win against the Tigers. Cedar Falls fell 44-25, as City High advanced to 2-0 on the season.

The JV team started 1-1 on the season, with a 44-25 win over Cedar Falls and a 52-30 loss to Prairie.

Upcoming wrestling events include “Pack the Gym Night” for the City vs West dual meet on Thursday, December 14. Students who attend will be given glow sticks.
