Anna Lindower ’19 competes in the 2017 Forward Coleman Relays. She will do so again this Thursday the 19th.

On Thursday, April 19, the boys and girls varsity track teams will compete in the annual Forwald Coleman Meet. Athletes participating in relays all have a chance to qualify for Drake Relays.

Jae Dancer ‘21, a member on the girls varsity track team, will be competing in the distance medley and the 400 meter hurdles.

“I really want to qualify for Drake Relays and I think it would be really cool to qualify as a freshman,” Dancer said. “Obviously there is a lot of pressure, it’s a really big deal.”

Oisin Leopold ‘20, who is on the boys varsity track team will also be competing tomorrow night. He will be running in the 4×110 meter shuttle hurdle relay and the 110 meter hurdles. Leopold also hopes to qualify for Drake Relays.

“I’m really confident that I can qualify for Drake,” Leopold said. “I’m going to try to run a 15 flat on the hurdle highs tomorrow.”

Particularly this school year, there has been a lot of cancellations due to cold weather for sports, and especially for track.

“I think the more canceled practices has somehow affected us,” Dancer said. “But I feel like this year, the track team looks better than ever and I think we can perform well tomorrow.”
