Fifty students and 10 teachers left on a bus to Coggon, for an annual leadership retreat and missed a Friday of school.

The staff and students weren’t ditching. They were on the YMCA Wapsie Leadership retreat, which is a trip offered to City High students every fall to induct freshmen into the “Little Hawk family” with upperclassmen and teachers there to help guide and bond.

“Students learn important leadership lessons about working together, preserving, and helping each other.” Principal Bacon said. “We had a great retreat this year. Very proud of the kids for jumping in and taking a risk and trying something new. We also ate a lot of s’mores.”
