GLOW Club Dance Update

One of the many activities GLOW club members participate in is the planning of the annual ‘Love is Love’ Dance. As the dance fast approaches, members in the club are working to finalize preparations for this fun night.

“In the past few meetings, we’ve been breaking up into different planning groups,” said Phil Tyne ‘20. “We are working on having songs that are danceable and having a diverse range of songs. We will also have some slow dance songs as well.”

In addition to the song committee, the decoration committees, poster committees, and marketing committees have all been working hard to make this year’s GLOW club dance a success.

Not only is this dance supporting Love of all kinds, but it’s also a fundraiser for different GLOW club activities. The money they raise selling tickets for the dance will be used in helping fund GLOW club gatherings, future dances, and various other expenses that come with running a GLOW club at City High.

“We are also raising money for the Governor’s conference. It’s an LGBTQ conference in Des Moines that Glow club goes to” said Phlora ‘22.

The Governor’s conference includes speakers, other GSA’s, and promotes activism. Profits from this dance will be the main source of funding for this trip. The annual semi-formal GLOW club dance will be held on March 9 from 8pm-10pm. Tickets go on sale next Tuesday through Friday in the lunchroom. They will also be sold after school on Tuesday through Friday.
