Current math teacher Phillip Hansen has been named City High’s next Athletic Director. A press release from City High administrators announced that Mr. Hansen has been recommended to the school board and, pending approval, will take over as Interim A.D. on July 1, 2019. The “interim” label will then be lifted when Hansen completes his Master’s Degree in Educational Administration later this year.

Mr. Hansen is a math teacher at City High as well as the school’s varsity girls soccer coach. Principal John Bacon expressed his excitement about the hire to The Little Hawk.

“I am extremely excited and happy for Phil Hansen to take on the important position of Athletic Director,” said Mr. Bacon. “Phil is an outstanding faculty member and a natural leader. He’s capable of the highest quality work. I know that Phil will lead our athletic program to new heights.”

The news comes as current City High A.D. Terry Coleman has announced his retirement at the end of the school year. Mr. Coleman helped build the Little Hawk girls track program into a powerhouse as head coach and was previously an assistant principal at City High.
