Prom and Graduation Update

Although many end of year events still bear the “subject to change” warning, times and dates have finally been set.

Graduation will take place on Sunday, June 6, at 7:00 p.m. It will be held, in person, at Coralville’s Extreme Arena. To encourage social distancing, there could be limitations on the number of tickets allotted to each family. The Senior Honors Ceremony will not be held in person this year, but virtually. The time and date for this event are TBD.

With permission from the district granted, there will be a prom-like event held either outside or in the gyms at City High. The event is set to be held on May 8, from 7-10 p.m.

“The event will be rather like prom and party after prom combined into one event,” Principal Bacon explained in an email sent out on March 23. “We are planning to hold the event on the turf field, behind school. We plan to have a DJ/dancefloor area. Around the perimeter, we will have party-after-prom-type activities for students, including games, prizes, and food.”

Prom attendance is restricted to City High juniors and seniors. Per the district’s decision, neither guests from other grade levels nor other schools will be permitted to attend.
