It looks as though the Pleasant Valley Spartans have a chance against your City High Little Hawks, as the number 8 ranked team in the 5A class. Coming into the game with a 4-2 record vs City Highs 6-0.

This team is once again a run-first team. Their starting quarterback only has 130 yards and 2 touchdowns in the season. But their running backs look like they may be what the little hawks have to shut down.

Their Starting running back is Caden McDerrmot ‘23 who leads the team with 90 carries, 562 yards and 8 touchdowns. He has that break away speed that is so valuable right now.

Their Second-string running back is Rusty VanWetzinga ‘23. He also possesses a bit of a threat as he has 41 carries, 256 yards, and 2 touchdowns.

Now based on how their defense looks the hawks should be able to pass fairly easily but it’s going to be harder to run against this PV defensive line than most people think.

Tate Lyon ‘24 seems to be who the hawks are going to have to gameplan around the most. He’s a tackle machine, leading the Spartans with 8.0 Tackles for loss and 51.0 total tackles. He also presents some problems on the offensive side of the ball with a 29 yard touchdown reception.

Aiden Kilstrom ‘22 I think that we are all going to remember this guy’s name. He is 6’4, 280 lbs and looks like a run stuffer. While his stats aren’t anything crazy (8 total tackles and 2.5 for loss) his measurables are crazy. Whenever we look at a city attempting a run this friday its most likely that they will run away from this guy.
