Last week marked the start of sales for City High’s winter dance. This year, the dance has been pushed from its usual date in January to February 26. Because of this, the dance has been given a Valentine’s theme.

Recent student senate meetings have been held in order to plan the dance. Rebecca Michaeli ‘22 and Aala Basheir ‘22, the senior class presidents, led a discussion at Tuesday’s morning meeting on decorations and the change of DJs. On top of this, the club’s sponsors analyzed this week’s low ticket sales, reminding students that if too few tickets are sold, there is potential for the cancellation of Saturday’s dance. Despite these low numbers, sponsor Melanie Gibbens is happy with how the overall planning of the dance has gone.

“I think the planning has gone really well,” Gibbens said. “We’ve had a great turnout [in Student Senate]. We’ve got some great ideas surrounding decorations and student senators have been willing to sell tickets during lunch.”

Tickets for the Valentine’s Dance – which will be held from 7 to 10pm on Saturday – can be purchased this week in the new commons during lunch.
