Senior Night For Women’s Soccer Results in a Shutout for Dubuque Wahlert

No. 12 Iowa City High hosts Wahlert Catholic for senior night, after the game, senior night ceremony honors 4 year varsity starters.

As City High ended their first half at 3-0, senior night was off to a great start. Claire Brown ‘23 scored 3 goals throughout the match, and Aoife Boulter ‘24 had the final goal with 6 minutes left of the game. Taking hold of the game early allowed for starting goalkeeper and senior captain, Sara Cassidy, to be put into the game at 5-0 in the second half.

“I think I speak for all of our seniors when I say that senior night was special,” Morgan Turner ‘22 shares. “Overall when it came to our game, I felt like everyone impacted it in a very positive way. We all worked together very well. I couldn’t ask for a better team to have my senior year!”

All the seniors started the game, and Morgan Turner ‘22, an outside midfielder captain, had 4 goals. Sara Cassidy ‘22 scored in the second half, her first non-penalty kick goal of the season. The final score of the game was 9-0. City High women’s soccer leaves this game with an 8-3 record and plans to meet Cedar Rapids Washington in a match at Kingston Stadium this Friday, May 13th.

“It was a good feeling when I scored because I’m never on that side of the field. It was a super special moment for me,” said Sara Cassidy ‘22.
