From the beginning it was known that this game was not going to be high scoring. In the regular season the Little Hawks lost to Linn-Mar 2-0 in a downpour of rain. This time there wasn’t a cloud in the sky which seemed to favor the Little Hawks. In the beginning of the game it seemed the team maintained possession, getting little chances every once in a while. But toward the end of the first half Joel Eckhardt ’24 got in behind on a run and put the Little Hawks up 1-0 going into the half. Before the game head coach Jose Fajardo made formation that seemed to help them out.

“Defensively we looked so much better, they had nothing on us defensively. Offensively we had more numbers in the box and we had a lot of opportunities with the through balls. Obviously we just have to finish our chances, but we are looking good,” Alima Mmunga ’23 said.

In the second half with the team ahead, freshman goalie Ben Borger-Germann came in clutch with multiple saves keeping the team ahead in the end. Without those clutch saves the team may have not been in the substate final on Wednesday.

“It feels amazing but, I couldn’t have done it without my backline and my team they helped so much, I mean I just love my team,” Ben Borger-Germann said.
