The Little Hawk Golf Team celebrates a third place finish in the MVC Super Meet at Thunder Hills Golf Course

At the Mississippi Valley Conference Super Meet the Little Hawk Golf Team made major strides, shooting 33 strokes better than the previous season. This year, the Super Meet was held at Thunder Hills Golf Course and the team shot a 310, securing a third place finish out of the 15 teams in the meet. They are also leading their side of the conference.

The players who scored in this meet were Jack Rogers ‘26 who shot a 70 and got second individually, Jake Mitchell ‘24 who shot a 77, Ethan Nace ‘24 who shot an 80, and Drake Obermueller ‘25 who shot an 83. This total ended up besting their previous score by 33 strokes compared to last year’s Super Meet.

“It was very exciting seeing that we finished near the top and we didn’t even have our best day. I think you could ask anyone on our team and we could easily shave about five to ten strokes off that 310,” Jack Rogers ‘26 said.

In their next three meets after the MVC meet the Little Hawk Golf Team shot a 312 at the Muskie Invite, a 329 at the Linn-Mar Invite, and a 316 at the Warrior Invite. Their team average so far this season in 18 hole meets is 316.75 heading into 9 hole meets. Their stat leaders in 18 hole average are Jack Rogers ‘26 averaging a 73.50, Ethan Nace ‘24 averaging an 81.50, Jake Mitchell ‘24 averaging an 82, and Drake Obermueller ‘25 averaging an 82.50. Their regular season will continue through September before districts and state in October.

“I think trying to slow the game down and taking it one shot at a time has helped bring me success this season. Our team definitely has the capability to make it to state we just need to keep working and start playing the golf we know we can play,” Drake Obermueller ‘25 said.
