After splitting the weekend 1-1-1 the Little Hawks look to prepare for a large workload ahead this week.
City High is 5-1-2 and ranked number 10 in the state heading into one of their biggest games of the year against number six Prairie High School with a record of 7-2.
“I feel great we’re playing good competition and I feel that these are the games that will help us get better and eventually win state.” Gabriel Egeland ‘25 said.
The Prairie Hawks are led by midfielder/defender Colin Moyle ‘25 who currently is 3rd in the state with assists with 10. Moyle assisted two times over the weekend in a win vs #6 Dowling Catholic. Prairie’s defense has also boasted strong performances only allowing five goals this entire season with sophomore goalkeeper Jack Lester having 35 saves on the year along with an 87.5% save percentage.
City suffered their first loss in a hard-fought game against rivals West High, nearing a comeback after going down 0-4 in the early second half, and clawing back to nearly emerge victorious with a with goals scored by Jackson Lindsey ‘25, Jonah Bowen-Burt ‘25, and Jack Dancer ‘25 to lead to a final score of 3-4.
“We went into the weekend knowing that these games were a must-win, we didn’t get everything we expected but we just have to move forward,” Lindsey said.
The game is tonight on the City High turf at 6 PM.
