An exciting and unpredictable season for soccer is wrapping up. With just a month left of the season, the final of the biggest club competition, the Champions League, is set. On one side is PSG, representing France. They have had a difficult road to the final, finishing just 15th in the league phase of the competition and having to go through the extra playoff round as well. PSG has defeated four Premier League teams on their road to the final, including three in the knockout stages, where they defeated Liverpool on penalties, Aston Villa 5-4 across two games, and Arsenal 3-1.
Leading the way has been one of the favorites for the Ballon d’Or, Ousmane Dembele. He has had 44 goal contributions this season and has scored or assisted in most of the big games.Desire Doue has also inspired the Parisians, managing 25 goal contributions at just 19 years old. The entire team is stacked from top to bottom, boasting one of the best midfields and an underrated defense with veterans like Marquinhos and also young maestros like Joao Neves. Overall, PSG has had one of the toughest roads to the final and have come out on top. They look to be the favorites, and their dangerous attack will be key to their chance at victory.
However, there is no underestimating Inter Milan. The Italian team has had the best defense in the whole competition in the league phase. Although they have conceded more goals in the knockout phase, they have shown that they can still outscore the best teams as well, beating Bayern Munich 4-3 and Barcelona 7-6 across two legs each. Key players from their squad include veteran striker Lautauro Martinez alongside younger striker Marcus Thuram, who have a combined 40 goals this season; Nicolo
Barella as one of the best midfielders in the world; a rock solid defense with the likes of Allesandro Bastoni and Denzel Dumfries; as well as a goalkeeper that seems to be unbeatable in Yann Sommer.
Inter have already shown they can beat the best attacks with their win over Barcelona. PSG, however, doesn’t have the same gaps in their defense that Barcelona, partially due to injuries, had. PSG is fully healthy, and their defense won’t make the same mistakes that Barcelona’s did. PSG will win the UEFA Champions League, but it will be a close game. Prediction: 2-1 PSG.
