With the appointment of a new treasurer and secretary, the Student Senate moved on to business as usual as they reviewed their successes in the last homecoming dance.
“We had a successful homecoming parade,” advisor Steve Tygrett said, “One of the best we’ve ever had.”
During the meeting the idea of a winter dance was suggested. However, this suggestion brought up a number of issues to be addressed.
“The biggest issue is that there’s no one out there,” Tygrett said, “It’s just really tough to find someone who’s willing to do a high school dance.”
One idea that was suggested to get around this problem was thought up by President Toe Collins ‘26, who suggested getting a student DJ rather than an adult one.
“I know a guy,” Collins said, “A high schooler. I think he’s 18, but a very talented DJ.”
In any case, a winter dance seems unlikely. Winter dances haven’t been a thing in ICCSD for a few years.
“I was told a few years ago by one of the assistant principals that all the schools got together and agreed that they would just do a homecoming and a prom, and there wouldn’t be extra like school wide dances,” Tygrett said, “If it’s something we want to do, we have to get approved by Mr. Bacon first.”
