Students at City High have a new opportunity to combine their love of sports and faith with the launch of a Fellowship of Christian Athletes club.
“FCA gives students a place to deepen their faith in Jesus, and grow their relationships with other athletes at City High,” Ryan Clevenger, the group’s faculty advisor, said.
The City High Chapter of Fellowship of Christian Athletes began meetings this fall in room 1307. The club, according to FCA adviser Ryan Clevenger, is part of a national FCA organization and aims to bring athletes and non-athletes together to encourage faith, leadership, and teamwork.
“This group is changing the culture of City High for the better and is providing all students in our school with a place where they are valuable, seen, and loved,” Ryan Clevenger, FCA adviser, said.
According to the FCA website, the mission of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes is to lead every coach and athlete into a growing relationship with Jesus Christ and His Church.
“FCA is what City High students need. I love it because it gives me a chance to grow closer to God,” Eliza Mitchell 27’ said .
Liberty, West High, and Regina have all seen the creation of an FCA chapter at their schools within the last year, and the chapter at City High welcomes new members.
Students can follow the club on Instagram @city_high_fca, where the group posts regular updates regarding events and meetings. The group is open for all students from all religions, sports, and grade levels.
