The boys’ bowling team finished their 2025-2026 season with a final score of 3286 against Waterloo West. Being only 180 pins behind, they finished with a 5-5 record. The team has been practicing since early November, with meets nearly every week since the end of the same month.
Their current standing includes beating rival West High for the King Pin.
At the state qualifying, the top eight individuals and the top two teams make state. City finished 7th out of 8 teams and missed state. For singles, everyone bowled three games. Cal O’Brien finished 11th with 649, Trendon Walker 16th with 631, Leif Carlson 22nd with 597.
“While the season didn’t end the way we had hoped, we still had success on a level the team hasn’t reached in the past. We had great team chemistry, which allowed us to stay focused and bowl to the best of our abilities. It was a great season and a fun team to be a part of,” Calvin O’Brien said.
The team, formed in 2010, is coached by Guy Irvin and Justin Rios. The final game was also the team’s Senior Night, celebrating seniors Calvin O’Brien, Nathan Voudhivong, and Trendon Walker.
