Last night, the City High girls’ track team hosted and won the Forwald Coleman Relay meet. City competed against 7 other teams and clinched the win over Waukee Northwest, 150-147. During the meet, there were many achievements reached, including 27 standards of excellence performances, ten individual seasonal bests, four relay seasonal bests, 19 personal bests, a sprint medley meet record, and five more events met the Drake standard. City High has now qualified ten girls track and field events for the Drake Relays.
Celebrating across the finish line, Maeve Bowen-Burt '28 expresses her excitement after beating Waukee Northwest in the 4x400 meter relay. The 4x400 meter relay was ran by Laila Pho '27, Ellie Fraga '27, Jayda Kent '29, and Maeve Bowen-Burt '28 to anchor. The four runners also qualified for drake relays with a time of 3 minutes and 57 seconds. "I really just wanted to do well and I felt like I just wanted to stay with Waukee girl. I wasn't trying to pass her crazy or run a crazy time but I realized I had some left so I kicked and crossed the finish line well to end the relay," Bowen-Burt said.
